Watch Out

by thegooddoctor in 100 Words

Time is my mortal enemy.

There are never enough minutes in a day. No matter how scheduled and organized I try to be, time always manages to sneak up on me, slipping through the cracks, flying past me unnoticed, baffling me every time. It’s a constant battle that begins the minute I wake up each morning. I start each day feeling invigorated and optimistic, but no matter how much I accomplish, there are still tasks left unfinished, boxes left un-ticked. With each passing day, I slump away feeling defeated.

In an effort to boycott time, I never wear a watch.

Time Crystal

by thegooddoctor in 100 Words

Dr. Henrich had been working on the prototype for decades. His entire career had been devoted to transferring the three dimensional periodic arrangement of a crystal onto a four dimensional construct.

He had finally succeeded.

His time crystal would allow him to travel to any time he wished. He could walk through the past the same way we normally walk down a busy street.

Unfortunately at his age, he was hobbled by his recent hip replacement and the crystal wasn’t large enough to fit his Segway. It would take him hours just to make it back to breakfast this morning.

Dr. Herzog’s Wind Clock

by thegooddoctor in 100 Words

Ever since Einstein, scientists have understood the relative nature of time. But Dr. Theodore Herzog was the first one to commoditize time. He realized the principle of the conservation of energy was applicable to time as well. If time is sped up in one place, it must be met with a corresponding slow down of time elsewhere.

Dr. Herzog managed to commercialize his findings so that he could sell people time. Unfortunately, his wind clock never made it to market. A future version of himself came back to the present and murdered him, erasing him from the timeline all together.
