The Veil Of Light

by thegooddoctor in 100 Words

My body wakes to join my mind in shock as scenes of a distorted world vanish, and realization sinks in. The darkness of the world I inhabit dissipates, and the light arises once more. Haunted by the past and present, but none so terrifying are they to the unknown of the future. That eldritch thing that lurks behind the veil of light, creeping across the land and praised by the Cult of the New Dawn. I lie here in fear, hoping and praying that I possess the strength to face it once more, to conquer the daemon of the day.

Bumping Into An Old Friend

by thegooddoctor in 100 Words

Like a beacon of an unkind fate the bald pate shines where his pink Mohawk once grew.

“Punk’s not dead,” he drools, the two pints of Heineken having gone to his head, when back in the day it would have taken five, or eight.

“Yeah, the spirit lives on,” I lie to this ghost from my past sitting alone in the bar without any hope of a date.

“Another pint?” the zombie asks, but I don’t hesitate with the well, it’s getting late, been nice to catch up, thanking God for boring suburbs, wife and kids, the nine to five.

Time Crystal

by thegooddoctor in 100 Words

Dr. Henrich had been working on the prototype for decades. His entire career had been devoted to transferring the three dimensional periodic arrangement of a crystal onto a four dimensional construct.

He had finally succeeded.

His time crystal would allow him to travel to any time he wished. He could walk through the past the same way we normally walk down a busy street.

Unfortunately at his age, he was hobbled by his recent hip replacement and the crystal wasn’t large enough to fit his Segway. It would take him hours just to make it back to breakfast this morning.
