Grief
by thegooddoctor in 100 Words
Arriving home, Sally is greeted by police at the main door.
“Thieves have systematically worked over every condo in this block. Apartments have been robbed, trashed or vandalized, your apartment badly. We have a grief counselor on hand for you.”
The police accompanying Sally to inspect the crime scene hold open the door for her revealing a distressing sight of man-made mayhem.
“I’m sorry you have to see this. Has anything immediately obvious been stolen?”
Sally slowly takes in the shocking scene of devastation before saying, “No. This is how I left it this morning. I was in a rush.”

Home School
by thegooddoctor in 100 Words

All the school administrators care about are their own rules.
At the end of day one, Dad walked through the door and asked how it had gone down.
“It would have gone a lot better if the teacher wasn’t such a bitch,” was my candid reply.
That’s how I flunked home school.

New York City Runaway
by thegooddoctor in 100 Words
Crystal hid from the crowds of people by darting from shadow to shadow. Luckily, everyone was too busy to notice. The tall, hairy strangers in suits and uniforms were frightening, yet nothing scared her more than the thought of returning home.
She secretly flitted about the streets of the city, searching for a doorway to slip through. But not jut any doorway. Crystal had a long list of requirements that needed to be fulfilled before she picked a location. She hadn’t run away in order to settle just anywhere.
After all, once a fairy enters someone’s home, it never leaves.

In Private Company
by thegooddoctor in 100 Words
It was love at first sight, all thirteen remaining members of H Troop floundering in the presence of Stella Grunwald.
We lingered during Corporal Mannheim’s interrogation, a volunteer detail of thirteen sentries where only one was needed. Anything for a glimpse of the German starlet.
The Chaplain once told me the difference between men and animals is animals can make a new home for themselves every night.
I guess he was making some theological point about finding your home with God.
Anyway, when the German tank brigade appeared, each of us was hoping to make a home with Fräulein Grunwald.
