Four A.M. Flyby
by thegooddoctor in 100 Words
Disease shrunk his body to nothingness; pain drew up his limbs, tightening his skin until not even his love for her could stave off time.
Finally, he spread his body wide in ecstasy, unfolding each joint, stretching parched skin that once pulsed strong with every heartbeat. With breath diminishing, he flexed each finger, arm, leg, until he was lifted up and out into the dawn.
Four friends awoke, soothed by the tender touch of a breeze kissing their brows. His soul passed; he whispered, “Goodbye, old and treasured friends.”
It was his leaving hour; it was his four a.m. flyby.

We Are Not Responsible For Lost Or Damaged Baggage
by thegooddoctor in 100 Words
Let him hold and spoon your every nook and cranny of pre-decaying skin. Cut yourself slightly to scrutinize the way you bleed. Is it different?
During his flight later on, he will serve the peanuts and diet cokes to suits and pantsuits that view themselves as better, and this time they will be right. He knows, you know, and the ten untainted cells between you both know, too.
Tell your all-knowing daughter that you, Daddy, are too good at making friends.
Give tickets out with fervor.
Let yourself believe for a mere moment that you can run away for good.

Backfire
by thegooddoctor in 100 Words
Betsy wanted to slay a dragon. All her friends had killed at least one and it was embarrassing to show her face at the academy.
Sadly, Betsy’s father had strictly forbidden her from joining any quests. He kept telling her maybe when she’s older.
Betsy’s brother had resigned himself long ago to never slaying any dragons and he told Betsy she might as well give up too. “Dad’s never going to change his mind. He’s against all slayings. Mom says that it’s because his grandfather was a dragon.”
Betsy grew up to hate dragons more than any of her classmates.

Everything Fades Before Its Time
by thegooddoctor in 100 Words
Wendell stared at the woman he called his wife, debating whether to respond. For some reason, all he could think about was how beautiful she used to be.
At his bachelor party, his friends had taunted him that this would be his last night of freedom, that after tonight he’d only be with one woman for the rest of his life, but Wendell didn’t see that as a prison. He would gladly give up all the woman in the world to be with Simone.
“Yes,” he answered, without really thinking.
“You fucking pig.”
Wendell returned to reading his sports magazine.

Outdoor Wedding
by thegooddoctor in 100 Words
Her friends all warned her against him. They said she was crazy. He was too different. People would judge her. Eventually she’d grow bored. What would her parents think? Where would they ever find a priest to perform the ceremony?
Janet ignored them all. They didn’t understand. This was what she’d always dreamed of. They’d realize they’d been wrong. He was patient and sturdy. Plus it would come with an outdoor wedding.
Her friends refused to come. They said it wasn’t right to marry a tree stump, even if it did have a nice hat and scarf wrapped around it.

Mistakes
by thegooddoctor in 100 Words
Selena leaned against her wounded soldier of a car as Stan Brandanowitz stepped from his Cadillac and walked over to her. He was the reason she’d left and the last person on Earth she wanted to see.
“Need a ride?”
“No. I’ve got Triple A on the way. Thanks.”
Stan smirked and offered her a cigarette. “You remember when we used to be friends, Selena?”
“We were never friends. You were just using me like you use everyone. Like you used Richard.”
Stan stopped just as he was about to light his cigarette. Mentioning Richard had probably been a mistake.

The Boy Scouts Of America Guide To Making New Friends
by thegooddoctor in 100 Words
Making friends is easy. Just follow these easy steps:
Shake hands with your potential new friend firmly. Always look him directly in the eye.
If you are nervous, chew gum. You don’t want to bite or lick your new friend because your mouth had nothing to do.
Find a shared interest with your new friend. Talk about your favorite sports team, cars or girls.
Do not touch your new friend inappropriately. The Boy Scouts of America is opposed to inappropriate contact, especially between minors.
Now that you have made a new friend, plan an activity together.
Remember, no inappropriate contact.

Wooly Pachyderm Oliver Herm
by thegooddoctor in 100 Words
Oliver walked his forest home
looking about for his favorite comb.
“I need to part my big bouncy perm,”
said wooly pachyderm Oliver Herm.
He searched in the trees.
He searched on the breeze.
He looked under rocks
and peeked inside locks.
He asked all his friends,
with strange odds and ends,
whether fury or feathered,
uncaged or tethered,
“I’m stuck in a lurch,
and you must help with my search!”
They came with their dads, they came with their mums,
all of Oliver’s buds, pals, and chums.
Whether three toed sloth or echinoderm,
to help wooly pachyderm Oliver Herm.
