Why LOTR Sucks: Slow Motion Slut

When a director wants to tell the audience something is important, rather than relying on good dialogue and a tightly written script, he can instead turn to some tried and true techniques for manipulation. He can use music to tell the audience to feel sad or relieved or scared. And he can use slow motion to let the audience know this is significant.

Peter Jackson loves to use both together. A lot. He just used slow motion on a running white horse. You’d think it was the second coming of Christ. But no, it’s just a really fast horse.
