This Day In History: April 28

The Chaos Factory is happy to present a new feature. Every April 28, we will showcase the great historical events which took place on April 28.

On April 28, in the year 1192, Conrad I of Jerusalem was assassinated. Conrad was an Italian nobleman and participant in the Third Crusade. He was also the Marquis De Montferrat.

Conrad’s death came during a time of war between Christendom and the Kingdom of Islam, led by Saladin. Scholars attribute the current rise of terrorism in the Middle East to Conrad’s assassination in 1192.

Also, Saddam Hussein was born on April 28th.
