I enjoy a good classic and vow to check out “Tender Is The Night”.
Ulysses on the other hand…I own and have attempted its reading twice. On first attempt, I failed at page 3. I failed a little further along on attempt #2, but continue to hold out hope.
I have actually read Ulysses. It's the most impenetrable book I've ever come across and I had to force myself through it. there was one section that made it all worthwhile though, maybe 2/3 in, where he changes style to mimic something you would read in Jane Austen. Too bad the whole book wasn't like that.
But I would say that there's nothing to be gained from reading it. It's an exercise. It's not a story.
