Aphorisms To Live By

Aphorisms are succinct observations that contain a general truth. We love them because they say so elegantly ideas that we know in our heart must be true. Reading them makes us wish that we could be so eloquent ourselves.

Here are some of my favorites:

-F. Scott Fitzgerald

Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it’s stupid.
-Albert Einstein

If you have everything, but don’t have love, you have nothing. If you have nothing, but you do have love, you have everything.

Nowadays people know the price of everything, but the value of nothing.
-Oscar Wilde

Love me when I least deserve it, for that is when I really need it.

Grief can take care of itself, but to get the full value of a joy you must have somebody to divide it with.
-Mark Twain
