They found a shop where everything was dipped in sugar. Candied fruit. Candied hot dogs. Candied broccoli. Even the candy was candied.
They melted the sugar and did the candying in the back room. It was there they came up with all sorts of ideas about what might be candied. The faces of the babies and small children, their candied expressions forever frozen in sugar, were particularly gruesome.
