The fish seemed innocent enough, until the child fell into the water and was devoured by them. That was when the townspeople finally connected the dots and realized all the disappearances in the last year weren’t the result of a crazy serial killer. It was obvious they had executed the wrong man.
In the end, it took several weeks, and countless pounds of explosives, but the menace fish were finally eradicated. Peace returned to their sleepy hollow.
This was small consolation to Carl. Executions were one of those things that can never be taken back.
