Did you realize that every four years, there is a summer sporting spectacular that gathers athletes from around the world to compete in athletic endeavors? And did you know that this year, the Olympics, as they are called, are being held in London? One of the sports is named tennis and it involves using a fiberglass instrument to bat a furry rubber ball over a net. The tennis event is being held at a place known as Wimbledon. And according to Wikipedia, Wimbledon is famous for serving strawberries and cream in addition to tennis balls.
So in honor of the Olympics, here’s a story from Wired about a robot that uses microwaves to pick ripe strawberries.
Personally, I don’t see what all the fuss is, and I mean about both the Olympics and strawberries. I’m much more intrigued by this doughnut robot:
