It\u2019s me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But Jeff knew it was him. It always was.<\/p>\n<p>He got so whiskey drunk that he woke the next afternoon tasting chalk. He couldn\u2019t remember downing all those pills, but he must have because the bottle was half empty. Not half full\u2014definitely half empty.<\/p>\n<p>He spent three minutes on the help hotline he found on the internet.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDude,\u201d the counselor said, \u201cmaybe it really wasn&#8217;t you.\u201d That\u2019s when Jeff hung up. Probably just some college kid volunteering for a class project.<\/p>\n<p>Jeff would survive.
