I\u2019m going to eliminate demonstration presentations from my Speech course. I was erasing the board after class tonight when a student approached me, asked if I\u2019d approve a ritual for the assignment. \u201cI\u2019ll need to make an altar, bring a knife.\u201d<\/p>\n

I turned to face her, \u201cSorry\u2026 no, Moira, that\u2019s not okay.\u201d<\/p>\n

She narrowed her eyes, whispered words I barely caught, \u201cwithin wood\u2026split a stone\u2026find me there.\u201d<\/p>\n

I smiled weakly, \u201cWas that a spell?\u201d<\/p>\n

She stormed out. I gathered my books and bag and walked quickly to the car. Under my blouse, my jasper cross tingled warm against my skin.<\/strong><\/p>\n
