I write my own praises, dictating stories to muckrakers. Advisors insist on it.<\/p>\n

I ran for office to serve. Tragedy. Much is given, much is expected.<\/p>\n

I spout platitudes with such grace, it scares me.<\/p>\n

Advisors expect me to conduct myself with grace. Don\u2019t show feelings.<\/p>\n

Constituents expect a shining prince, savior of liberalism.<\/p>\n

I drink copiously, the moon as my witness. I can\u2019t contain the weight of demands, desires.<\/p>\n

I wake up on stairwells and in closets, hangovers uniquely my own machination.<\/p>\n

I feel failure pirouetting, a taunting ballerina. She\u2019s right to taunt.<\/p>\n

But I\u2019m not allowed to regret.<\/strong><\/p>\n
