Lucky he\u2019s not on my chopping block, I thought. \u201cDon\u2019t forget. Mother\u2019s here for dinner tonight,\u201d I said. Onions appeared next on my chopping board.  \u201cWhat are you making, Mom?\u201d I turned around to answer: \u201cVegetarian Chop Suey.\u201d \u201cNo lamb chops? That\u2019s okay,\u201d my boy surmised. \u201cDon\u2019t think grandma\u2019s choppers can take anything tough.
