My<br \/>\nmother\u2019s homemade mashed potatoes steaming, the butter melting down onto<br \/>\nmy dish, makes my mouth water.<\/p>\n<p>We can\u2019t touch our food until the turkey is on the dish and the<br \/>\nThanksgiving prayer has been said.<\/p>\n<p>My younger brother squirms in his seat waiting to shovel stuffing into<br \/>\nhis mouth.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOkay, the turkey is carved,\u201d my father says and clasps his hands<br \/>\ntogether and begins the prayer.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s not the food I realize that makes me happy.
