Showing off. His grin stuck with her and played havoc with evening homework.<\/p>\n<p>Sometime later, Mabel didn\u2019t see him riding his bike. She didn\u2019t see him at all in school.<\/p>\n<p>Curious, she decided to walk a different route home; past his parents\u2019 house. In the garbage put out for collection was Paul\u2019s crumpled bike.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYour mom told me about the accident.\u201d Mabel said at the hospital.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThanks for visiting,\u201d Paul answered. \u201cNo one else from school did.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>They exchanged smiles.<\/strong><br \/>\n<em><br \/>\nFrom Guest Contributor Krystyna Fedosejevs<\/p>\n<p>Krystyna writes poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction.
