Pirate Tale

by thegooddoctor in 100 Words

Aright, there I was reading a pirate book in bed, when a portal opened and swiped me into a different realm of sorts. It took the whole bed and me cup of rum. Sailing into the seven oceans blue making me wonder what was true. Thus I pondered and wondered about reality as I continued to read my pirate book. Were there just seven seas or oceans in the realm of reality I was in,
at which point a pirate spoke to me, making me wonder what was in my rum. To live free is a dream. Dying an end.

Time Traveler’s Tale

by thegooddoctor in 100 Words

The ending of the closed time curved loop was about to happen? How would one know? Stories, deja vu? A feeling that something new was about to happen? New? In a cycle of recycled? Nothing was new under the sun. All scenarios had been done. And this too was just some sort of redo.

The question the time traveler had? Was any of this real? Meaning? The time traveler had seen more than 50 states of the US. Had seen UK leave the EU. Had watched Hawaii being nuked. All seemed surreal. The question of time. The question traveling time.

Their Tale

by thegooddoctor in 100 Words

The day after they were introduced to each other, the author sent a message.
“I’m planning on writing a story about a young, talented and beautiful female musician, thousands of miles away from home. But I’ve still got some research to do. I thought maybe you’d like to help me out.”

“Is it a love story?” she asked.

“It might just turn out to be one of the greatest love stories ever told,” he answered.

“Do you think it’ll have a happy ending? I love happy endings.”

From that moment on, they both knew her story also became his.

A Singular Engagement

by thegooddoctor in 100 Words

William cradled his seven billion secret.

So many sparkles, surfaces splintering sunlight.

He couldn’t name a single confidant. The gravity and the gossamer belonged to him alone.

He snapped the case shut. The light remained. Would it fit? He believed so. He hoped so.

Then again, it didn’t matter. If it fit, they’d tell a fairy book tale. If it didn’t, they’d laugh, they’d reconsider, and they’d refit, impervious to the punches.

All of which they would come to know together. In the meantime, he’d know all alone, confident yet precarious in the center of his chest.

Witnesses could wait.
